On-Site or Lab-Based Calibration

For maximum convenience and minimal disruption, we can calibrate the following equipment at your premises or within our own dedicated facility:

  • Pressure & Vacuum Gauges: Ensuring your dials and digital readouts are providing an accurate representation of system pressure.
  • Air Leak Standards: Verifying the orifices and master leaks used to “zero” your pressure decay and flow testing systems.
  • Flow Sensors: Precise calibration of sensors used in mass flow and dosing applications to ensure consistent volumes.

Specialist Tracer Gas Laboratory Services

Due to the extreme sensitivity and environmental controls required, we provide specialist calibration in our own facility for Tracer Gas Reference Leaks. This is a critical service for anyone adhering to ISO 20485, as it verifies the “known leak rate” your detector uses to calibrate itself. Our laboratory capabilities include:

  • Sniff Test Applications: Calibration of both Capillary-style and Canister-style leaks used in manual and robotic sniffing stations (Helium, Hydrogen).
  • Vacuum Applications: Precision calibration of reference leaks designed for use within vacuum chambers and high-sensitivity “Group A” leak detection systems.

Planned maintenance is the most effective way to avoid unexpected failures and extend equipment life. Our preventative service visits are structured to identify wear, drift, or degradation before it impacts production. Typical activities include:

  • Inspection and verification of pressure, vacuum, and flow instrumentation
  • Leak test system performance checks (pressure decay, tracer gas, burst)
  • Mechanical inspection of seals, valves, fixtures, and tooling
  • Functional checks of control systems, safety circuits, and interlocks

All visits are fully documented, providing clear service records to support audits and internal quality systems.

When issues arise, fast and accurate diagnosis is critical. Our engineers are experienced in troubleshooting both legacy and modern systems across a wide range of applications. Support can be provided via:

  • Rapid on-site attendance for critical failures
  • Remote diagnostics and technical support where appropriate
  • Clear root-cause analysis with practical corrective action

Our aim is not just to fix the immediate problem, but to reduce the likelihood of repeat failures.

For customers seeking predictable costs and guaranteed response, we offer tailored service agreements aligned to your production risk profile. These can include:

  • Scheduled maintenance visits
  • Priority response times
  • Discounted labour and spare parts
  • Obsolescence and upgrade planning

This structured approach ensures your measurement systems remain compliant, supported, and fit for purpose as your production requirements evolve.

We support a wide range of instruments and systems with access to critical spare parts and repair services. Where appropriate, we can also refurbish existing equipment to extend service life and defer capital expenditure, often delivering significant cost savings compared to full replacement.

Optimeasure Proprietary Solutions

OptiBurst: Compliance Without the Complexity

The “Why”: You shouldn’t have to pay for a £20k NDT system just to find out at what pressure a bag pops. Many medical and food packaging manufacturers are over-complicating their QC labs with multi-function machines that are difficult to calibrate and even harder to use.

The “When”: Use OptiBurst when you need a dedicated, no-nonsense tool for ASTM F1140 burst testing. It is the cost-effective “point-and-shoot” solution for testing the ultimate strength of flexible packaging, giving you the exact data you need without the unnecessary software bloat.

OptiVac: The Ultimate Visual “Reality Check”

The “Why”: Sometimes, even the most expensive sensor can be fooled by a “stretchy” pack or high background noise. You need a way to physically see where a seal is failing without destroying the product or creating a mess.

The “When”: Deploy OptiVac for immediate spot-checks on the production line. By using a controlled vacuum to force air out of submerged seals, it provides an undeniable visual stream of bubbles from any leak point. It is the most reliable way to verify seal integrity in food pouches and medical trays where visual confirmation is the gold standard for quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Traceability ensures that the measurements recorded by your machinery are consistent with the International System of Units (SI). In highly regulated sectors like medical device manufacturing (ISO 13485) or food safety, "pass" or "fail" results must be legally and scientifically defensible. By calibrating your machinery to national standards, you provide an unbroken chain of evidence that your testing is accurate, protecting your business from the risks of product recalls and regulatory non-compliance.
When designing a testing application, three critical factors must be addressed:

Measurement Sensitivity: Ensuring the sensors are capable of detecting the specific allowable criteria for your components.

Cycle Time and Throughput: Balancing the "soak time" required for a stable reading with the production speed required by your facility.
The standard industry recommendation for calibration is every 12 months. However, this interval can vary depending on the criticality of the application and the environment in which the machinery operates. In high-stakes medical or aerospace environments, or if the machinery is subject to heavy vibration or extreme pressure cycles, a 6-month interval may be required to ensure the equipment remains within its specified tolerance. Optimeasure provides full support in establishing these calibration schedules as part of your quality management system.
