Optitest IQ

Multifunction air test instrument — pressure, mass flow, vacuum, volume, occlusion and burst.

Optitest IQ — Multifunction Air Leak Test Instrument

The Optitest IQ is the top of the Optitest range: a single instrument covering absolute and differential pressure testing, mass flow, vacuum, volume determination, occlusion and burst, with up to eight tests linked in sequence and no PLC required to sequence them.

What It Adds Over the Base Optitest

  • Differential and absolute pressure — differential testing resolves small leaks on larger volumes far better than absolute measurement alone.
  • Pressure range to 50 barG, against 10 barG on the base model.
  • Six test types in one instrument — pressure, mass flow, vacuum, volume determination, occlusion and burst.
  • Sequential linking of up to eight tests without a PLC, which removes a common integration cost.
  • Assignable gross leak detection per programme, rather than a fixed default.
  • Deep I/O — 8 in / 8 out expandable to 40, with around 250 output and over 100 input functions.
  • 127 freely programmable test programmes.

When the IQ Is the Right Choice

The IQ makes sense when one bench has to do several jobs: a part that needs a pressure test and a flow check, a line testing multiple variants against different programmes, or a test sequence you would otherwise build in a PLC. It also covers applications the base model cannot reach at all — anything above 10 barG, anything needing vacuum or occlusion testing, and volume determination.

A Note on Accuracy

The IQ measures to 1% of measuring span on absolute pressure and 2% on differential and mass flow, with 1% of full scale repeatability. The base Optitest is tighter at 0.3% of full scale. That is not a fault in the IQ; it reflects a wider-range, multi-function instrument against a single-purpose one. If your application is purely absolute pressure decay within 10 barG, the base model is both cheaper and more accurate. If you need the breadth, the IQ is the right tool.

Integration and Support

Communication is via RS232, USB-A, USB-B, PROFIBUS/PROFINET, digital I/O and Ethernet, with barcode support for programme selection. Our integration team can specify, install and commission the instrument into an existing line, and it can serve as a functional replacement for legacy equipment — see the migration guide on the air leak testing page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolute pressure, differential pressure, mass flow, vacuum, volume determination, occlusion and burst testing. Up to eight tests can be linked in sequence within the instrument, without a PLC.
No — and that is worth being clear about. The IQ measures to 1% of measuring span on absolute pressure and 2% on differential and mass flow. The base Optitest is 0.3% of full scale. The IQ is chosen for range and breadth of test types, not for tighter accuracy on a single absolute pressure test.
−1 barG to 50 barG, compared with −1 barG to 10 barG on the base Optitest.
Yes. It supports PROFIBUS/PROFINET, Ethernet, RS232, USB and expandable digital I/O with around 250 output and over 100 input functions. Our integration team handles specification, installation and commissioning.
