INFICON UL1000

Mobile helium leak detector — laboratory accuracy with industrial flexibility.

INFICON UL1000 — Mobile Helium Leak Detector

[ Product image: INFICON UL1000 — to be added ]

The INFICON UL1000 is a self-contained helium leak detector built on a 180° magnetic sector mass spectrometer, mounted in a durable metal housing with integrated wheels. Where a modular detector is built permanently into a machine, the UL1000 is designed to be wheeled to the work — between test stations, to a large assembly, or into a laboratory or maintenance setting.

It is a mobile instrument rather than a handheld one: at 110 kg it moves on its own wheels, and that substantial vacuum architecture is precisely what delivers a smallest detectable leak rate of < 5 × 10⁻¹² mbar·l/s — the sensitivity of a laboratory instrument with the flexibility of a shop-floor one.

Speed and Signal Isolation

The UL1000 uses INFICON’s proprietary I-CAL (Intelligent Calculation Algorithm for Leak Rates) software. Where other detectors average the signal over long periods to reach a stable leak rate, I-CAL delivers a fast, stable response across all measurement ranges, including the smallest. Combined with high helium pumping speeds at favourable test pressures and strong water vapour rejection, this produces fast, repeatable results and quick clean-up after a large leak.

Specifications per the INFICON UL1000 datasheet. INFICON operate a continuing programme of product improvement and specifications may change without notice — please confirm against the current datasheet at order. A UL1000 Fab variant is also available for semiconductor environments.

Operation and Options

A rotatable display presents results as digital, bar graph or trend readouts in large, clearly legible characters, readable at a distance and in poor light. Start, Stop and Zero are directly accessible, with advanced functions in the menus. User access can be restricted and menu items protected, and three separate user applications can be programmed for quick changeover.

  • RC1000WL wireless remote — 3.5″ colour touchscreen, over 8 hours operation at up to 100 m (a wired RC1000C version is also available).
  • TC1000 test chamber — turns the UL1000 into a workstation for testing hermetically sealed parts.
  • Accessories — attachable toolbox, helium bottle holder, ESD mat, SL200 sniffer line, and LeakWare PC software for PC-controlled operation and data collection.

Typical Applications

Automotive components, subassemblies and systems; refrigeration and air conditioning components; hermetically sealed electronic devices, integrated circuits, displays and fibre optics; medical, pharmaceutical and food packaging; flow controllers, pressure sensors and valves; light bulbs, transformers, high-voltage relays and circuit breakers; and cryogenic components, lines and systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is mobile rather than handheld. At 110 kg it moves on integrated wheels between test locations and up to large or installed assemblies. That substantial vacuum architecture is what delivers its sensitivity of < 5 × 10⁻¹² mbar·l/s.
Choose the UL1000 where the instrument needs to move to the work, or for a mixed laboratory, service and short-run workload. Choose the LDS3000 where the detector is integrated into an automated production machine with a fixed cycle time and PLC control.
Yes. The optional RC1000WL wireless remote provides a 3.5-inch colour touchscreen with over 8 hours of operation at distances up to 100 m. A wired RC1000C version is also available, along with LeakWare software for PC-controlled operation and data collection.
