The INFICON UL1000 is a self-contained helium leak detector built on a 180° magnetic sector mass spectrometer, mounted in a durable metal housing with integrated wheels. Where a modular detector is built permanently into a machine, the UL1000 is designed to be wheeled to the work — between test stations, to a large assembly, or into a laboratory or maintenance setting.
It is a mobile instrument rather than a handheld one: at 110 kg it moves on its own wheels, and that substantial vacuum architecture is precisely what delivers a smallest detectable leak rate of < 5 × 10⁻¹² mbar·l/s — the sensitivity of a laboratory instrument with the flexibility of a shop-floor one.
The UL1000 uses INFICON’s proprietary I-CAL (Intelligent Calculation Algorithm for Leak Rates) software. Where other detectors average the signal over long periods to reach a stable leak rate, I-CAL delivers a fast, stable response across all measurement ranges, including the smallest. Combined with high helium pumping speeds at favourable test pressures and strong water vapour rejection, this produces fast, repeatable results and quick clean-up after a large leak.

Specifications per the INFICON UL1000 datasheet. INFICON operate a continuing programme of product improvement and specifications may change without notice — please confirm against the current datasheet at order. A UL1000 Fab variant is also available for semiconductor environments.
A rotatable display presents results as digital, bar graph or trend readouts in large, clearly legible characters, readable at a distance and in poor light. Start, Stop and Zero are directly accessible, with advanced functions in the menus. User access can be restricted and menu items protected, and three separate user applications can be programmed for quick changeover.
